Prague city
Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, is one of the most attractive and most visited cities in Europe. The city offers its visitors a breathtaking historical environment, presenting architectural masterpieces ranging from the Roman era basilicas to the art nouveau, functionalist and cubist houses of the 20th century. We invite you to visit, among others, the unique large complex of the Prague Castle overlooking the city from one of its hills, to walk over the Charles Bridge built in the 14th century, or to wander the narrow romantic streets of the Lesser and Old Town. Prague will also unveil itself to you as a busy, modern Central European center of culture and business with numerous restaurants, bars, music clubs, galleries and concert halls, and, of course, friendly people. For more information about the city please visit the following webpages: www.praguewelcome.cz/en or www.praha.eu

Czech currency, exchange rates
Czech currency is the Czech crown (CZK). Payment in cash in other currencies is usually not accepted (nevertheless some shops or restaurants may accept EUR). There are many ATMs (cash dispensers) all around the city or you can pay by credit/debit cards in most shops and restaurants (VISA and MasterCards are the most common cards accepted).

Present-day exchange rates are around 1 EUR = 27 CZK, 1 GBP = 33 CZK. Be aware of bad exchange rates typically at the airport or in the main tourist areas and look for exchange agencies with no commision and favourable exchange rates.

Travel to Prague

Traveling by plane?

Prague has one international airport - Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG). It has two terminals used for regular flights. Which terminal your flight will use depends on the country from where the plane is arriving or the country to where the plane will be departing to (see below).

Please book your flight soon to save funds. www.skyscanner.com is useful for price comparison.

How to get from Prague Airport to hotel DAP or hotel Diplomat is described here.

Prague Airport (PRG) - Václav Havel Airport Prague

www.prg.aero/en/

Terminal 3

Not used for regular flights

Traveling by train?

The main train station in Prague is located in the city center and it has a direct connection to the subway network. More information how to get to the hotel is here.

Traveling by bus?

Most of the international bus lines use Florenc bus station. It is located close to the main railway station (and to the city center as well) and it has a direct connection to the subway network (the red line C and the yellow line B, station Florenc). More information how to get to the hotel is here.

Traveling by car?

The best guidance is by GPS navigation. It is a good idea to update your GPS maps, because some big road reconstructions are beeing done in the area around hotel DAP and many local road diversions are applied. For more information about the location of hotel DAP or hotel Diplomat look at the Accommodation chapter.

Hotel DAP has no own parking facilities. You have to leave the car on the street in front of or near the hotel – free of charge (no parking zones or other special restrictions), but parking the car on the street is almost impossible, because all places are usually occupied.

Hotel Diplomat has a secured garage parking (approx. 28 EUR per place per day) as well an unsecured outside parking (approx. 8 EUR per place per day). Both are subject to availability and you have to arrange it by yourself.

How to get from Prague Airport to hotel DAP or to hotel Diplomat

By bus (Public transport)

There is a direct bus line (119) from the airport to both hotels.

Use bus Line 119 from Prague Airport to Dejvická station (it is the end station of this line). The travel takes approx. 24 min and you can use a 24 CZK ticket (this ticket is valid for 30 min after validating it in the bus) or a 32 CZK ticket (valid for 90 min). You can find information or buy tickets in public transport info centers at the airport:

Public transport info centers at Prague Airport

www.dpp.cz/en/info-centres-at-prague-ruzyne-airport/

The info centres are located at the arrivals hall of both terminals and are opened daily from 7:00 to 21:00.They offer all the relevant information on the operation of public transport in Prague, its routes, timetables and fares (free of charge). In addition to information they offer in particular:

  • single-trip and short-term time tickets valid for 24 hours or for 1, 3 days respectively,
  • timetables for trams and buses (from whatever stop),
  • a map of Prague complete with its public transport network.

Arriving at Dejvická bus station (it is just 300 m far from hotel DAP and less than 100 m from hotel Diplomat), get off the bus and:

Even though we do not recommend it, you can also use on the way from/to the airport a special Airport to city center bus line AE (Aerport Express) to/from Dejvická station. Public transport tickets ARE NOT ACCEPTED on this line, it is more expensive than line 119 and with no special benefit against line 119. On line AE you will have to pay directly to the bus driver (one-way ticket from/to Dejvická station is priced at 40 CZK, from/to the main railway station is priced at 60 CZK). Access to the bus AE is through the front door only! Usage of this line between Dejvická and the main railway station without transfer to the airport is NOT PERMITTED.

By a taxi

Taxi is much more expensive than public transport (bus line 119) and it is just a little bit faster. It is reasonable to use taxis only for night arrivals/departures, when bus line 119 doesn’t operate.

Official taxi transport from Prague Airport

www.aaaradiotaxi.cz

We recommend to use AAA radiotaxi, which is the official taxi company operating at the airport. You can find a taxi infront of the arrivals hall of both terminals. The fare from the airport to hotels DAP or Diplomat could be expected at around 400 CZK (higher fare is possible depending on the actual traffic situation). For the way back to the airport, you can use the 47% discount coupon received from the taxi driver upon arrival. You must notify the use of this coupon in advance when ordering a taxi over AAA radiotaxi dispatching (tel. +420 221 111 111).

How to get from the main railway station to the hotels
We recommend to use public transportation instead of a taxi – it is cheaper than a taxi and usually faster due to heavy traffic. The main railway station (Hlavní nádraží) as well as hotels DAP and Diplomat are situated directly on subway stations.

From the main railway station Hlavní Nádraží get subway line C (red line) to station Muzeum. Here change to line A (green line) and continue to the end station Dejvická. Look at the map below.

For hotel DAP use the exit from the perone close to the end of the train you have arrived in. For hotel Diplomat use the exit from the perone close to the beggining of the train you have arrived in.

How to get from Florenc bus station to the hotels
We recommend to use public transportation instead of a taxi – it is cheaper than a taxi and usually faster due to heavy traffic. Florenc bus station (Autobusové nádraží Florenc) as well as hotels DAP and Diplomat are situated directly on subway stations.

Thus, take the subway line C (red line) from bus station Florenc to station Muzeum. Here change to line A (green line) and continue to the end station Dejvická.

For hotel DAP use the exit from the perone close to the end of the train you have arrived in. For hotel Diplomat use the exit from the perone close to the beggining of the train you have arrived in.

We do not recommend the alternative way to use the yellow line B with change to the green line A at Můstek station, because this change of lines is more complicated.
