Michal Kamrádek won the Otto Wichterle Prize
Michal Kamrádek from the Fiber Lasers and Nonlinear Optics research team was ranked among twenty-four outstanding young scientific talents and won the Otto Wichterle Prize, a prestigious award from the Czech Academy of Sciences.

This year, twenty-four outstanding young scientific talents won the prestigious award of the Czech Academy of Sciences: the Otto Wichterle Prize for 2023. The ceremony took place in Prague's Lann Villa on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, the prizes were presented to the laureates by the president of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Eva Zažímalová.

Michal Kamrádek focuses on research into the technology of special optical fibers. He helped develop new types of spectral range (2 μm - micrometers), safer for the eye, which is very relevant because it can be used, for example, in medicine, industry or in air defense. For example, he participated in the original method of preparing active fibers by doping with nanoparticles. He also contributed to the institute's success in the project Thulium fiber lasers for industrial and medical applications Business (2020) or in the project TALOS (Tactical Advanced Laser Optical System) of the European Defense Agency, where he was instrumental in the successful development of the optical fiber for the laser effector.

Michal Kamrádek is also a key worker in several international projects (e.g. New glass materials and spectroscopy for power fiber lasers operating above 2 μm - in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies (Leibniz IPHT) in Germany), while he fully represents the head of the scientific group for the preparation of glass optical fiber preform.

The Otto Wichterle Award is intended for promising scientists who achieve top results in their fields, hold scientific degrees (CSc., Dr., Ph.D., DrSc.) and are under 35 years of age at the time of submission of the proposal.
