We all welcomed the return of the SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics Symposium as an in-person event after a hiatus enforced by the COVID-19 pandemic. The symposium is held in Prague every two years. The last time we met in person was in 2019, when we also celebrated 40 years of research on optical fiber technology in the Czech Republic (we wrote about it here). Unfortunately, in 2021, the symposium had to be held only as an online lecture series.
This year's meeting took place on April 24-27 at the Congress Hotel Clarion in Prague's Vysočany. Scientists from ÚFE chaired a total of 4 partial conferences out of 17 and organized a specialized workshop called Coherent Fiber Source Technology Workshop, including an excursion to the laboratories. As part of this workshop, a number of important scientific personalities gave lectures, such as Leslie Rusch (COPL University, Laval, Canada), Anne Dholande (Directed Photonics and Application Group, ISL, France), Karel Nejezchleb (Crytur, Czech Republic) and others.
