A team of researchers from IPE and developers has designed a new type of fiber laser that will be useful for processing sensitive materials. Its application will be in industry, aeronautics and in the future it could also serve doctors.

The project is co-authored by scientists from the Institute of Photonics and Electronics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague and employees of Matex PM and SQS. The result of their work is a thulium fiber laser.

Fiber lasers are based on optical fibers and their advantage is high efficiency. They are used for marking or cutting because they are very accurate. This new laser is innovative especially for the used wavelength and its construction. It can be used in the automotive industry or even for demanding medical operations.
